The Hopi people, an Indigenous nation of the American Southwest (primarily in present-day Arizona), have oral traditions that include beings sometimes translated into English as "Star People."  Hopi oral traditions describe a long spiritual history involving migrations, sacred teachings, and relationships between the earth, sky, and spiritual beings. In certain Hopi stories, celestial beings are associated with guidance, instruction, or protection. These are sometimes referred to by outsiders as "Star People." One figure often discussed is Sotuknang, a creator-associated being in Hopi cosmology, who plays a role in the creation and ordering of the world. Hopi traditions also speak of previous worlds or eras through which humanity passed before arriving in the current world.
